This notice explains how MySTC handles personal information for students, staff, and approved partners using our invite-only platform.
Information We Collect
We collect information needed to operate the portal and support educational services. This may include account information (name, email, login details), profile information, resumes and career materials, student and class-related information, and user-generated content such as bulletin posts and comments.
How We Use Information
We use information to authenticate users, provide student services, support class and directory features, run bulletin and communication tools, support job and career features, and operate, secure, and improve the platform. We do not use student information for public advertising.
Data Storage and Processing
MySTC is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), with primary hosting in us-east-1. As a result, personal information may be stored or processed in the United States and may be subject to lawful access under applicable foreign laws. Authorized support and operations personnel may access data on a need-to-know basis.
Access Controls and Security
We use multi-factor authentication, role-based access controls, and restricted access practices to protect student information. Access is limited to authorized users and personnel who require information to perform educational, operational, or support duties.
Uploads and User Content
Users may upload materials such as resumes and profile images. Please upload only information you are comfortable sharing within the platform context. You are responsible for ensuring uploaded content is accurate, appropriate, and does not include unnecessary sensitive personal information.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted service providers to operate the platform, including AWS for infrastructure and storage, and Sentry for application monitoring and error diagnostics. Service providers process information only to deliver contracted services to MySTC.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as needed for educational, administrative, security, and legal purposes. Retention periods are reviewed as the platform and institutional requirements evolve.
Access, Correction, and Deletion Requests
You may request access to your personal information, or request corrections or deletion where appropriate, by contacting mystc_support@skilledtradescollege.ca. We will review requests in line with applicable Canadian privacy requirements and operational obligations.
Policy Updates
We may update this policy as services, program requirements, and legal obligations evolve. Material updates will be posted in the platform with a revised effective date.
